OK, Gent – Let’s get CRACKIN’:

SLEEP

‘Catching Up’ On Sleep:

Possible, Or Total B.S. Myth?

Catching-up-on-sleep

Here’s what’s crazy: most people in our society have, at one time or another, used the term ‘catching up on sleep’.

But a new study says that’s a bunch of B.S..

In Poland, university investigators examined sleep loss. Participants experimented for 10 days with sleep deprivation, getting 33% less sleep than usual.

Then, they spent a week recovering. Here are the results:

Catching up is hard – recovering from lost sleep is difficult (even when you tack on more hours later!)

Adults need 7+ hours on avg. – this baseline is pretty standard across the board (yet some may need more or less)

One week of catchup doesn’t cut it – if you miss even one or two hours a night, a full week of catch up will still not be enough to fix cognitive impairment!

Humans are diurnal; not nocturnal – no matter how effective you think you can be past midnight, under fluorescent lights… you’ve still evolved (as a primate in the Homo genus) meaning you should be sleeping at night!

It’s packed. Don’t sleep on this article.

MOVEMENT

What Happens When a “Streetlifter” Meets a Calisthenics Champ?

streetlifter-vs-calisthenics

Well, you’re about to find out…

Recently, the ’17 and ’18 World Streetlifting Champion (Vitaliy Feschuk) met up with the 2020 World’s Strongest Man (WSM) Champ (Oleksii Novikov).

These two Ukrainians headed to Novikov’s gym to share sports – and connect over some unconventional training methods.

Here’s the thing – one man is definitely stronger; the other more mobile.

You’ll have to watch the video and check the article to see who’s who. Farmer’s walks, atlas stones, dips, log lifts and more…

Let’s just say they reveal the answer. You’ll learn:

Proper dip technique – leaning forward to hit delts, traps, and chest evenly,

Rep ranges for each discipline – 3-5 for strength, 8 for mass, and 12 for size – according to Novikov – and

Proper ‘farmer’s carry’ mechanics – including keeping your back straight, deadlifting technique, and grip strength!

NUTRITION

Is Your Vitamin D Supplement Sustainable? Let’s Find Out:

Vitamin-D

Gent, here’s what’s great about Vitamin D:

It helps your mood – especially when you don’t get enough sun. It regulates calcium and phosphate, keeping your bones, teeth, and muscles strong.

It’s an essential vitamin – but where you source it can be just as important as how much you’re taking!

In a recent article from Mind Body Green, they share how Vit-D supplements are made from lanolin, a raw ingredient (a fat) derived from sheep’s wool.

It provides you with ample D3 – which is what you’re after. So if you’re plant-based, there are also other algae-derived D3 sources you may want to check out.

Considering we try to tailor our advice to men searching for purity, cleanliness, and chasing excellence? We wanted to bring this option to your attention today.

Mind Body Green discovered a non-GMO, USDA organic, plant-derived, and environmentally sustainable, algal vitamin D3.

It’s chemically identical to the lanolin from animal sources, and will give you the same mood-boosting benefits.

Get the scoop on plant-based D3 here!
